The 70th All India Cooperative Week has been observed in various districts in Nagaland.
In Mokokchung, the 70th All India Co-Operative Week was organised by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, reported the DIPR. It was observed under the theme “The Role of Co-Operatives in Making India $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs” at Sangtemla Multi-Purpose Hall, Mokokchung on November 17.
Addressing the gathering as the Guest of Honour, Chumlamo Humtsoe, ADC Mokokchung said the force in making a society strong and moving forward is through the culture of cooperation and working collectively. He said that if most of the Registered Societies in the District are active, it would surely be a thriving force to lead the community/society to another level. He maintained that in order to fulfill the objective of the department (Co -Operative Societies), it is not only the efforts of the employees alone but active role and participation of the community is vital. He also urged the individuals as well as the societies to be prompt in repaying whatever loan is availed from the Bank in order to progress collectively.
Short speeches were delivered by Maongsangla, Dy. District Agriculture Officer, and the Manager, NSCB Ltd. Mokokchung. The vote of thanks was proposed by Imtionen, Asst. Registrar of Co-operative Societies (ARCS), Mokokchung, while the programme was chaired by Meyilemla Pongen, Inspector, Co-operative Societies (ICS), Mokokchung.
In Kiphire, the week was observed under the national theme “Role of Cooperative in making India a $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs” at Seili Complex, Kiphire on November 17.

According to DIPR, the programme was organised by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies (ARCS), Kiphire with Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, John Tsulise Sangtam as the Guest of Honour. The Deputy Commissioner in his speech stated that there are more than 400 registered societies but most of it are not functioning. He said that the Government will support a hard working individual/ society. He also urged the Cooperative Societies to work hard and build up the society. He added that when the Societies perform well, there is no need for assistance from the Government and the economy of the society will also increase.
Sangtam said that Cooperative Societies should play an active role as they are essential in the district. He encouraged the gathering to change their mindset and go for new ventures and to encourage one another. SRCS, Tsipongse Anar chaired the programme while the keynote address was delivered by SRCS, K Lirichum Anar and Chumlongse Sangtam, Chairman Atsitsa large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd. Kiphire shared his experience.
