Advisor Keoshu credits Advisor Mhathung for Lakhuti Football Ground constructed under Khelo India Scheme

Wokha: Yanthan thanks DYRS, contractor and supporters for successful completion of facility before scheduled time

Advisor of Youth Resource and Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung on 16th December 2023 inaugurated a Football Ground in Lakhuti Village in Wokha District constructed under the Khelo India Scheme in the presence of Advisor of Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan.

In his speech, Yimkhiung remarked that the first Khelo India project in India has been completed and inaugurated in Lakhuti and credited the success of the project to Yanthan’s dedication for the people.

The YRS Advisor also encouraged the elders to extend their support to the younger generation in sports and urged them for the upliftment of Naga youths in sports as there are lots of Naga youths who are talented in sports. He informed of his department’s initiative to hunt young talents and train them professionally so that they can represent their Village, community and state as a whole. Yimkhiung also underscored on the rise of women in various fields, predicting their future dominance in the state.

Advisor Mhathung Yanthan acknowledged the historic occasion and thanked the DYRS for extending supports towards successful completion of this facility. He expressed gratitude to the contractor for completing the work before the scheduled time.

He also thanked the people for their support and assured continued efforts for the welfare of the village while also urging them to take ownership and maintain the Football Ground.

Earlier, the inauguration program began with the unveiling of Inauguration Plaque by the Advisor Keoshu Yimkhiung, while the Dedicatory Prayer was offered by Rev. Ezanbemo Odyuo, Pastor, Lakhuti Baptist Church.

Swedi Kiso, Executive Engineer, DYRS informed that work commenced on 4th May 2022 and completed in the month of 17th June 2023 within the stipulated time period. The work involved

earthwork for ground extension with site levelling, covered galleries, two storied rostrums with change rooms, toilets, rooms and seating area on top, retaining wall, drain and security fencing.

The project was sanctioned in the year 2021-2022 under Khelo India Scheme with an amount of Rs 5 Crore.

Also in the program, Chairman, Lakhuti Village Council, Mhonthung Yanthan delivered the welcome address while Director YRS, Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS presented the Vote of Thanks. Presentation by Lakhuti Citizen’s Forum, KN Mhonthung Lotha while the Lakhuti Eloe Ekhung enthralled the occasion with a beautiful traditional song.
