Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2024 to feature 15 sports discipline and 161 medal events

The upcoming Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2024, to be held from the February 12 to 17 will feature 15 sports disciplines and 161 medal events, informed the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) in a press release issued by its Media team.

The NOA convened a crucial meeting at its Games Headquarters in Chümoukedima district on January 22  at 11:30 AM and discussed detailed plans for the upcoming Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2024, to be held across Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts.

The meeting was attended by 70 representatives from the Sports Associations, Nagaland Olympic Associations officials and Chef de Missions, Deputy Chef de Missions of the Games.

The Games will feature 15 sports disciplines, which include Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Football, Lawn Tennis, Pencak Silat, SepakTakraw, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Wrestling, Belt Wrestling and Wushu. “All the 16 districts of the State are making preparations to participate in the State’s biggest sports meet which will have a total of 161 Medal events,” stated the NOA.

The 15 sports disciplines will be played in four Sports Arenas, nine Sports Complexes and facilities across the two districts of Dimapur and Chumukedima. The main Games Village will be located at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence under Chumukedima district.

In line with other major sports events at the regional and national sports events, the Games will be divided into two phases and accordingly, the accommodation, food and logistics will be provided to the participants as per the schedule of the respective disciplines. Validity of the accreditation will also be as per the schedule of the respective disciplines. Certain sports disciplines like Football will commence early in order to accommodate the fixtures.

All sports associations and district teams have been requested to submit ten flags each. The NOA has also requested all districts to provide the details of their flag bearers for both the opening and closing ceremonies. The event will be broadcasted live, enhancing the reach and visibility of the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2024. All districts has been reminded to submit bank details for efficient financial transactions.

“The Nagaland Olympic Association appreciates the support and solidarity that has been received from all sections of the people and further appeals to one and all to come forward and extend cooperation towards the cause of our youth, especially the arena of sports and games so that collectively we can make the event a grand success,” appealed the NOA.
