Phek district is on top of the medal tally at the ongoing Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG) 2024 with 7 gold, 4 silver and two bronze medals. Peren district follows very close with 6 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze. Chümoukedima, Kohima and Dimapur come in the third, fourth and fifth places with five golds each.
On Monday, Niuland became the first district to get a gold medal at the NOPG 2024 when its Cricket team defeated Chümoukedima by 93 runs in the T20 final match at Sovima Cricket Ground.
In Football, Peren will take on Chümoukedima in the final match.
On Tuesday, Peren defeated Phek 2-1 in the semi-final where the goal scores were Lamsanngin and Winamthiu for Peren and Yhoto for Phek. In the second semi-final match Chümoukedima downed Dimapur in penalties (6-1) after drawing 1 each. Ghuqhe for Dimapur and Limakumzuk for Chümoukedima scored goals for their teams.
In Freestyle Wrestling, 57 kgs category, Peren’s Peramreudibo came first, Sweyiesal Kuotsu of Kohima, Kedukito Temi representing Kohima and Takarii or Wokha came in the second, third and fourth places respectively.
In the 61 kgs category, Zayievuto Kiso of Kohima got gold while Popo Puro of Wokha secured silver.
In the 65 kgs category, Kaisinwang Nring of Peren, Kheseto Zütso of Kohima, Ketousilie of Chümoukedima and Zarenthung of Wokha came in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places respectively.
In the 70 kgs category, the gold went to Ngonuyi Yhobu of Phek while silver and bronze were secured by Mhaneikholie and Rokuohelie, both from Kohima district.
In the 74 kgs category, Kusavi Tsutso representing Phek got first while Keneiselie of Kohima got second.
In the 79 kgs category of Freestyle Wrestling, Peren’s Nlunrai and Wokha’s Thechamo came first and second.
