DGP Manipur urges Nagaland counterpart to take action on SAPO’s instruction to Mao community

The Director General of Police, Manipur, Rajiv Singh, IPS, has on Wednesday written to the DGP of Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, IPS, urging him to take appropriate action on SAPO’s instruction to the people from Mao community.

The Southern Angami Public Organization had earlier in the day directed the Mao citizens living in Angami jurisdiction to return to their respective villages for their own safety “since the Mao Council had totally failed to vacate and withdraw the Manipur Security Forces which was established at the disputed Kezoltsa, at their behest, with ulterior motive.”

The DGP of Manipur, in his letter, stated that the notice from SAPO is causing “concern and panic among the Mao Community residing in Manipur and Nagaland” and requested his counterpart in Nagaland to take action as well as to provide adequate security to the people of Mao community residing in the State.
