International Women’s Day celebrated across various districts in Nagaland

The International Women’s Day was celebrated across various districts in Nagaland today under the universal theme “Invest in women: accelerate progress”.

Tseminyu

According to DIPR, the District Administration Tseminyu, District HUB for Women Empowerment in convergence with Department of RD, Tseminyu organized the International Women’s Day program on 8th March 2024, at Town hall Tseminyu with the theme” Invest in women: accelerate progress”.

Opening remarks was delivered by Kemciyile SDO © Tseminyu and short speech was shared by Jenny Kath, BDO, Tseminyu, Dr. Victoria Seb, PHC Tesophenyu and Gwayhunle Tep, SDEO Tseminyu.

The program was chaired by Ruokuosetuo Tetso (NCS) EAC, Tseminyu, invocation prayer was pronounced by Ayhunsha Ras, Tseminyu Old Town Baptist Church, special number by Runole Tep and vote of thanks from the chaired.

Meluri

The International Women’s Day was celebrated at Meluri Village Council Hall, organised by the Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) in collaboration with Pochury Mothers’ Association with the theme “ Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” on March 8, informed DIPR.

Speaking on the theme, Virhothsü Nyuwi expressed the role of women in education, economic, empowerment and leadership development to accelerate towards gender equality. She also encouraged the womenfolk about the importance of creating an inclusive society where women are valued, respected and empowered to partition fully in all aspects of life.

FES Engagement with women was delivered by Wiethsürho supervisor, FES Meluri. Words of appreciation to women were shared by VCC Meluri, VCC Khumiasü, VCC Riehuope and Neitsole janry Station Secretary, Pochury Hoho.

Special numbers presented by Women Societies of Meluri Area, Apoksha Area, PHOYISHA Area and Project 5.PM were the highlights of the day.

Earlier, President Pochury Mothers’ Association, Sürhothsü delivered the welcome address while invocation and benediction were pronounced by women pastor MVBC and President St. Xavier Parish Church Meluri respectively. The programme was chaired by Chitsiarho PO Field Coordinator, NFMP, FES.

Merapani Village

The Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Block Mission Management unit Bhandari Block, Wokha observed the International Women’s day at Community hall, Merapani village, Wokha on March 8 under the theme “Inspire Inclusion” with Assistant Commandant, 7th NAP Bn Bhandari, Rose Yanthan, NPS as the special guest.

Rose Yanthan stated that the International Women’s day is celebrated for women achievement in political, social, economic and culture field. She also stressed on the importance of gender equality and its necessity in the society. She urged the women folk not to depend on men but to be economically independent.

Resource person Catechist, Catholic Church Merapani, Yanthungo Odyuo said that International Women’s day was celebrated to honour the achievement of women in various fields. He said that it is a gesture of appreciation, respect, love and care towards women in the society. He said that women are multi-takers, capable to handle and manage a numbers of things at the same time. He also emphasized on women empowerment which is needed in today’s life and encouraged the women to work together for upliftment of the society.

Short speech was delivered by James Kikon, VDB Secy, Merapani. The programme was chaired by Lovungi T Ezung and vote of thanks was delivered by Romati Odyuo.

Zunheboto

Celebration of International Women’s day cum felicitation of Nagaland Olympics 2024 games achievers was held at VDB conference hall, Zunheboto on March 8, informed DIPR.

Short speeches were delivered by Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS and EAC, Viketoulie Mehta on various rights and schemes on women. Short speech on women centric schemes was delivered by Kiyepu (gender specialist DHEW).  Felicitation of Nagaland Olympics 2024 achievers was also conducted during the programme. Zakato I Zhimomi, officer in-charge NYKS Zunheboto chaired the programme.
