Celebrating our Traditions: a festival held at Wangkhao Govt College

Mon: The objective of the fest was to install dignity of labour and to promote and preserve culture through education

A two-day festive event was organised by the Cultural Committee of Wangkhao Government College, Mon with the theme ‘Celebrating our Traditions’. The festival was held on 16 and 17 September at the college campus.

The attractions of the two-day programme included display and sale of Konyak traditional food items and handicrafts, free visit to museum, open mic performance, photo booth and more. The College Museum was recently inaugurated on 24 March 2022 by Deputy Commissioner Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS.

Interacting briefly with Nagaland Tribune, Chongti, Assistant Professor and a member of the Cultural Committee, said the programme was aimed to culturally sensitise the students as well as visitors. She also said that another objective was to install dignity of labour and to help students earn through handicrafts, traditional food, and cuisine, and to promote and preserve culture through education as students are the custodians of culture and tradition in the near future.
