Director General of Police Nagaland Rupin Sharma, held a press conference in regards to Drug menace in the state on 16th March 2023 at Police Complex, Rhododendron Hall, Chümoukedima, DIPR has informed.
Addressing the media, the DGP said that in continuation of the Nagaland Government’s War against Drugs, the Nagaland Police continues its State wide efforts in all the district of Nagaland in order to combat the menace of widespread availability and usage of synthetic drugs and psychotropic substances. He informed that intensive checking of vehicles (MVCP), raids and checking of hotels, restaurants, etc. has been launched to prevent any such illegal activity.
Sharma asserted that combating the drug menace is not only the responsibility of the police but requires the cooperation of all citizens and further appeals to the general public to provide information of sale/distribution of any form of Narcotics/Drugs/IMFL etc. to the nearest Police Station or Narcotic Police Station, PHQ. Nagaland through the ‘madeinnagaland’ mobile application. He further said that the identity of the informant would be kept confidential.

The DGP also warned the sellers of SIM cards to be aware that many traffickers were using the fake identity cards to procure SIM cards.
The DGP also disclosed the arrest, seizure, recoveries and registration of cases for the past three months from 1 December 2023 to 10 March 2024. The following recoveries, seizures, arrest and registration of cases were made:
Altogether 48 NDPS case were registered and 122 persons arrested (Male 98 and female 24). Seizure: Ganja – 475.719 kgs; Heroin – 3 kg 700 grams 30 mg; Yaba – 589 tabs; Crystal others meth – 346 grams; Brown sugar – 366 mgs 86 mg; Spasmo (SP) – 4793 caps; Simplex – 1664 caps; Nitrozolam – 160 tabs; Cough syrup – 2468 bottles; Alprazolam – 290 strips + 3410 tabs; Tramao – l144 caps; others – 3 taps OST +31 tabs, (Spamoil) + 7 tabs (Spamodart). The Nagaland Police have also detained 12 accused under PITNDPS Act 1988.
Nagaland Police IGP (CID) Vikram Khalate and CP Dimapur K. Sophie also gave a brief report on NDPS Act and drugs related registered cases and arrested individuals in Dimapur.
