The PM SHRI (Prime minister school for rising India ) school state level choir competition organised by the Nagaland Education Mission Society, Samagra Shiksha was held today at RCEMPA, Jotsoma.
Highlighting the inherent musical talent of the Nagas, Special Guest Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director of TaFMA in Nagaland, updated on TaFMA’s focus on identifying and nurturing exceptional artists, aiming to bring them to regional, national, and international prominence. Our efforts extend beyond recognition by providing opportunities, training, mentorship, and grooming to equip individuals for success in the artistic realm, maintained Sothu.
He mentioned that several artists from Nagaland are making a mark on the global stage, with others dedicated to improving their skills further.
Additionally, Sothu emphasized TAFMA’s close collaborations with educational institutions to foster artistic development among students. “By partnering with experienced artists and industry professionals, TAFMA nurtures emerging talent and expands its reach across all 16 districts of Nagaland. We have also forged partnerships with multiple countries to enhance their impact globally,” stated Sothu.

He urged the participants to consider pursuing music as a full-time career, emphasizing its rewarding nature and the need for dedication. Stressing that excellence is essential in all endeavors, he highlighted the importance of consistent hard work and perseverance to achieve success in the music industry.
Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director & State Nodal Officer of PM SHRI School Samagra Shiksha in Nagaland, announced that nine schools from four districts across Nagaland are participating in the competition. The PM SHRI initiative, launched on 7th September 2022, aligns with the new education policy, providing instruments like guitars and digital pianos to all participating schools for the first time.
GHS Thahekhu bagged the first position and received Rs. 30,000. Mayangnokcha GHSS Mokochung stood 2nd posion and awarded with Rs. 20,000.
