The Indian Navy has rescued 23 Pakistani nationals from pirates after their fishing vessel was hijacked on 28th March 2024 in the Arabian Sea. The Spokesperson of Indian Navy has informed that after the nine pirates on board the Iranian fishing vessel ‘Al-Kambar’ had surrendered in the early hours of 29th March 2024 after “12 hrs of intense coercive tactical measures as per the SOPs”.
INS Sumedha and guided missile frigate INS Trishul were involved in this operation. Earlier, the two Indian Naval ships, mission deployed in the Arabian Sea for maritime security operations were diverted to intercept the hijacked fishing vessel.
The Indian Navy Spokesperson also said that the Indian Naval specialist teams were undertaking thorough sanitisation and seaworthiness checks of the fishing vessel in order to escort her to a safe area for resuming normal fishing activities.
