Nagaland’s Next top Player winded up today after a two day selection at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. Mecievi Kieya was selected by the team of Thonburi United, Thailand – a professional Thai divison 3 club based in Bangkok, Thailand.
The initiative is spearheaded by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports to provide alternative platforms for the talented Youth in Nagaland.
The selected player will be signed under a professional contract for an initial period of 4 months which will include salary, accomodation, tickets and match bonus.

The significant endeavour also coincided with the first Women’s Futsal League where four teams participated in a two day event. The participating teams included IGS A, IGS B, Lengreng from Peren and NASA C. IGS A were the winners of the league by leading the chart undefeated.
This initiative marks the step towards promoting sportspersons from the state to not only gain valuable experience but to also provide the opportunity towards a career in sports.
