The Rachü Union Kohima (RUK) commemorated its golden Jubilee on April 13 at the Kisama Amphitheatre with Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, MLA, Kohima Town as the Special Guest. Rachü is a khel in Viswema Village where the RUK members comprises of those from Rachü khel in Viswema and in Kohima.
In his speech, Dr. Rhütso expounded on the importance of commemorating important milestones beyond mere celebrations, but to forge the way ahead by being relevant to the present time and situation. Much has been done and has happened in the 50 years past, said the MLA, but the post 50 years ahead was for the younger generation.
“We must keep love and compassion in the centre of everything. If there is love and compassion for one another, there is no will to do harm or commit crime in the society but there is patience in the person. When a person has love and compassion in his heart, he has the willingness to share, reconcile and giving to the society,” said the MLA.
In this regard, while celebrating jubilee Rhütso encouraged the essence of adopting love and compassion in oneself and among one another.
With the accomplishment of fifty years, the MLA shared that the Union should renew their goals and plans. The need to document our oral history was also emphasised.
Zale Neikha, former MLA, in his speech challenged the members to walk in determination and commitment to give back to the community.
Jubilee is a time of renewal for the community, a time of forgiveness and reconciliation on enmity among one another, viewed Neikha. In order to forge ahead, Neikha viewed, one must live in unity and contentment with one another, uplifting the weak and contribute with the best of what one can give back to the community.
