The Rising People’s Party (RPP), on Tuesday, expressed concerns that the Lok Sabha election in Nagaland may be “stolen by the might of the state machinery” amid the speculation by the Congress Party that booth capturing may take place in 12 constituencies including Dimapur-I, Dimapur-II, Dimapur-III, Ghaspani-I, Ghaspani-II, 9 Kohima Town, Northern Angami-II, 19 Phek, 20 Meluri, 37 Tyui, 38 Wokha and 29 Janpetkong.
RPP said that the success of the Congress rally at Dimapur on Tuesday has proven that the voter sentiments are with the Congress, however, “unless there’s free and fair election on the polling day, the NDPP will walk into the sunset with stolen victory for which it’ll be a great loss for the state.”
Therefore, the Party called upon all the conscientious leaders to help prevent mockery of democracy. It reminded the village GBs, the custodian of Naga customary laws and tradition, that “the great evil called the UCC as promised to be implemented by the RSS/BJP” can be prevented only if there is free and fair election on 19th April 2024.
RPP also requested the church leaders to see that their clarion call for clean election is implemented in letter and in spirit.
“RPP believes that the Naga people irrespective of political colours will rise to the occasion and SAVE DEMOCRACY in the country,” the Party stated.
