7th Kohima District Open Shooting Competition 2024 held Kohima

The 7th Kohima District Open shooting competition 2024 was held on May 4 at D.Khel Ground , Seikhazou Kohima village.

Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS, Director Youth Resources and Sports graced the occasion as the Chief guest at the inaugural program. In his speech, Sekhose highlighted the Nagas’ potential in sports. “We are all build for this kind of sports,” said Sekhose encouraging the gathering to explore to find greater opportunities.

He also informed that the department has undertaken the Gap analysis study over the last one year and another survey will be conducted on parents to research on the attitude of parents towards sports.

Asserting that Sports uplift unity, Sekhose urged the Associations to come together and work for the benefit of the sports athletes .

The Director acknowledged the need for improvement in Sports infrastructure assuring that the government is trying its best to improve the sports facility and to encourage such sports.

“There are many benefits as far as shooting is concerned, it gives steady mental ability and an improvement can be seen on concentration level,” said Sekhose. An advantage about the sports of shooting, according to Sekhose, is that there is no age limit for this sports.

He also advised the association to introspect and retrospect the changes needed in the society which is required to take the sportspersons to reach higher levels. “I hope today’s event will help the athletes to go to higher level and also take the participants to international level,” said Sekhose.

KDSA Patron Pele Khezhie in his greetings mentioned that there are many athletes who are talented in shooting so he requested the Director to put importance on shooting and promoting the sports athlete to reach the international level .

The program was earlier blessed with an invocation by Ruokuovituo Robert Catechist CKS, while Visasielie Suohu President Kohima District shooting association (KDSA) delivered the Welocme address. Vice president Metekhrielie Mejura pronounced the vote of thanks.
