In compliance with the directive issued by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) reiterated its stand not to extend cooperation to the Indian armed or paramilitary forces in any form and condemned the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 (AFSPA) in the Naga homeland.
“The Peace loving Nagas continue to live in tranquility and it is such heinous Act of the Coward Indian Armed Forces who over the decades has tormented the innocent Nagas in the name of Armed Forces Special Power ACT (AFSPA),1958,” stated a press communique issued by Khriesamhalie David Mere, President and Thejalhoukho Thomas Khawakhrie, Vice President.
The Angami Students’ Union demanded the Government of India to repeal AFSPA of 1958 and further called the highest Court of the Republic India to immediately restore human rights of the Nagas by repealing the inhuman Act.
The Union directed its units to strictly follow the given directives:
- No individual/union under Angami jurisdiction shall accept any form of aids from the Indian Armed Forces.
- No individual/union shall be allowed to invite the Indian Armed Forces to any event organized in its jurisdiction; neither shall they partake in any official events of the Armed Forces.

The Angami Students’ Union also cautioned all Indian Armed Forces stationed in the Angami inhabited areas to abstain from provoking any situation in contravention to the directive issued.
The union also warned that it will activate all its networks to ensure that no individual/group/armed forces violates the resolution of the Naga Students’ Federation and the Angami Students’ Union.
