Naga artistes get invitation to participate at in Bologna, Italy

Kohima: Artists underwent rigorous training,workshop in Nagaland prior to invitation

Artistes from Nagaland, Mengu Suokhrie and Ethel Wangha from ‘The Nagaland Folkloric Group’, have been invited to be part of the ‘Beyond Borders International Project’ as part of the XIII Edition of PerformAzioni International Festival in Bologna, Italy.

This was informed by Abu Metha, Adviser to Nagaland Chief Minister, Associate   President of Indian Athletics and Chairman of Investment & Development Authority (IDAN) on Saturday.

Congratulating Suokhrie and Wangha in a post on X, Metha said that the event is being organised by Instabili Vaganti in partnership with Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) from 24th to 31st May 2024. He also informed that the artistes, who are being supported under the Chief Minister’s Scholarship for the Arts, had undergone “a rigorous training and workshop in Nagaland prior to the invitation to Italy”.

Metha added that participating at the PerformAzioni International Festival will give them a fantastic platform to learn and perform under the guidance of world class mentors

“Our two talented cultural ambassadors will also get the opportunity to highlight the rich culture and traditions of Nagaland and promote Nagaland as a destination with fantastic experiences,” he further said.

In his post, Abu Metha thanked the Chief Minister “for the constant support to music, arts and the youth of Nagaland”. While congratulating TaFMa, he also expressed gratitude to Instabili Vaganti, the Bologna based theatre company, for partnering with TaFMa.

“This is another initiative that will strengthen India-Italy partnerships,” Metha stated.
