1,898 girls from Jharkhand offered jobs by Tata Electronics Ltd. at recruitment drive held in collaboration with Tribal Ministry

The Union Tribal Affairs Ministry in an effort empower young tribal women conducted an employment drive in Jharkhand where 1,898 girls between the age 18-20 years were offered jobs.

Tata Electronics Limited had organised this initiative in collaboration with the Ministry to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

The two-day recruitment drive was organized at Khunti, Saraikela, Chaibasa and Simdega districts of Jharkhand on 18 and 19 September. The girls will be employed at the Tata Electronics’ Hosur Plant in Tamil Nadu.

More than 2,600 girls participated in the recruitment drive from the rural areas of the districts, of which 1,898 have been selected, the ministry said in the statement. The candidates, with minimum qualification of Class 12th pass, went through two rounds of written test and one round of practical /physical test.

Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda said the drive was aimed at generating livelihood and empowering young tribal women. He also thanked Tata Electronics Ltd for providing them opportunities to work and upgrade their skills.

Munda will on Tuesday flag off a special train which will carry the first batch of 822 tribal girls from Ranchi to Hosur accompanied by a team of officials from TATA and Ministry. The remaining candidates will be sent in the second lot.

A team of officers from Tata Communication Ltd and Ministry of Tribal Affairs had been camping in Ranchi and making arrangements for the journey of these tribal girls. The company will ensure training, accommodation, food, lodging and transportation along with a fixed salary to the selected candidates.
