Thavaseelamn K, IAS, Principal Director, School Education, Nagaland, has directed the Sub Divisional Education Officer, Bhandari, Wokha district to submit a “detailed report” on the non-functioning of Government Middle School, Yanpha due to the absence of teachers.

The directive is in relation to a video circulating on social media which “portrays students stranded outside the Govt. Middle School, Yanpha during school hours on 16/08/2024 as no teachers including the Teacher-in-Charge reported for duty and the Class Rooms were closed.” Since the video surface, the public have expressed outrage and organisations such as the Lotha Students’ Union and the Ralan Area Students’ Union have demanded for immediate action on the matter.

The Principal Director has sought for the report from the SDEO Bhandari for “initiating disciplinary action against the erring teachers”.
