The Office of the Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has appealed to the residents of the State’s capital “to maintain normal purchase of food grains and other essential commodities and be considerate in the way one shops”. It has urged the public “not to resort to bulk purchases and panic buying, which may lead to unwarranted confusion during such a time of situation”.

The KCCI has also directed its members “not to entertain over excessive procurements by buyers out of panic.”

The trade body assured that food grains and other essential commodities are in stock and will be made available.

Further, the KCCI directed strict coherence from the traders and shop owners to not engage in high pricing or charging exorbitant rates on commodities by trying to take advantage of the situation, failing which, penalties will be imposed.
