Nagaland Government announces reward of ₹ 1.5 Cr for Hokato Hotozhe Sema, recommend him for Arjuna Awards

Kohima: State Govt will take up measures in promotion of sports in his name, says CM

The Nagaland Government will present cash reward of ₹ 1.5 crore for Hokato Hotozhe Sema after the para-athlete secured a bronze medal in Shot-Put 557 category at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024 becoming the first sportsperson from the State to ever win a medal either at the Olympics or the Paralympics.

Making the announcement on X platform, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio remarked, “We’re proud & joyous for Mr. Hokato Hotozhe Sema …… He’s made India proud & Nagaland shine.”

The Chief Minister also informed that the State Government will recommend Hokato Hotozhe Sema’s name to Government of India to bestow him with Arjuna Awards.

“It’ll also take up with the Indian Army & Min. of Defence for his promotion as an extraordinary case not only for his Olympic & Asian Games achievements but also for his galant service to the Nation,” Rio added.

Further, the Chief Minister said that other measures in the promotion of sports, in Hokato Hotozhe’s name, will also be taken up by the State Government.
