The Rising Peoples’ Party (RPP) has called for Survival Nagaland movement 2 to tackle the issue of illegal immigration in the State.
“While stakeholders especially the NSF over the decades have made many actionable moves to curb the influx, it’s clear that the society at large needs to come together – the CSOs, tribal bodies, youth organisations, student organisations and the political parties”, it stated.
The RPP stressed on the need for the formation of a “pan-Nagaland youth force/body tasked solely for the purpose of checking illegal immigration in the state”, taking inspiration from the ‘Survival Mokokchung’ campaign launched by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) in 2007.
The Party said that the “issue of illegal immigration is an existential threat for our people” and appealed to all the “patriotic people” of the state, especially the tribal youth bodies, to consider its opinion with an open mind.
“For starters, the tribal bodies/student bodies/youth bodies of the foothill areas of Nagaland may take the lead in forming the foothill area youth force,” the Rising People’s Party suggested.
