Vafümai Gaziphema FC and New Market FC were the winners on Day 2 of the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy at IG Stadium, Kohima.
Vafümai Gaziphema FC vs Phusachodu Warriors
In the first match, between Vafümai Gaziphema FC won 3-2 Phusachodu Warriors FC.
In the first half, Okho Christian opened the score sheet for Vafümei Gaziphema FC at the 19th minute which was equalised by Zhoveto Chuzho for Phusachodu Warriors at the 27th minute.
With another goal for Vafümei Gaziphema at the 31st minute by Chinakho, the first half ended with a 2-1 score.
In the second half, Ngachano scored in favour of Vafümei Gaziphema FC at the 57th minute. Vekusa scored for Phusachodu Warriors at the 79th minute but the Warriors were unable to rise again for the rest of the game.
Chinakho of Vafümei Gaziphema FC was awarded the Man of the Match.
New Market FC vs Patkai Christian College
In the second match of the day, New Market FC beat Patkai Christian College 8-1.
Yhunshalo of New Market FC scored for his team at the 36th and 42nd minute. Rhitso Mero added to the score sheet at the 45th, 57th and 69th minute and was named as the first hattrick of the 22nd NSF MMT.
The score sheet was further raised through the efforts of Gideon and Neisede Peseyie at the 62nd, 76th and 90th minutes respectively.
The lone goal of Patkai Christian College was scored by Eneibi Thopi at the 82nd minute.
New Market FC took the easy victory to advance to the next round.
Rhitso Mero of New Market FC was awarded man of the match.
In the first round of the tournament so far, a total of 15 goals have been scored and three yellow cards cautioned.
A total of 35 teams including two from Manipur and one from Meghalaya are participating in the month-long NSF MMT.
