Nagaland University conducts tree plantation under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign

Lumami: Event underscores university’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability

The Nagaland University held a plantation program under the aegis of Government of India’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative. The event took place on 17th September around the basketball court at the Lumami headquarters and was led by Prof. J.K. Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University.

Peter Ki, PRO, NU, who coordinated the program, informed in a press release that the event centered around planting nahor trees (Indian Rose Chestnut), underscoring the university’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and fostering a collective effort toward a greener campus.

Among the attendees were key figures such as Dr. Abemo, the Registrar; Albert Khizho, Finance Officer; Yanrenthung Ezung, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, Dean of the School of Social Sciences; Prof. M.S. Rawat, Dean of the School of Sciences; Prof. Dipak Sinha, Director of IQAC; and Prof. Wangshimenla Jamir, Dean of Students Welfare. In attendance were also various Heads of Departments, faculty members, officers, administrative staff, research scholars, and postgraduate students, Ki informed.
