The very first Annual College Fest of the Phek Government College was held from October 7 to 8. Organized by the Literary, Cultural and Performing Arts, the festival was held under the theme “Therinye”.
Therinye is a post-harvest festival marking the end of a bountiful year and evoking good health and prosperity, informed a press release by the College. The theme aimed at marking the beginning of hope, success and prosperity whereby the students were encouraged to take on every opportunity and reap the fruits of their hard work.
The first day was Inaugurated by John Tsulise Sangtam, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Phek who enlightened the students by urging them to work hard and take every opportunity that is provided to them. Further, he stated that there is no joy in celebrating without success, for which hard work and dedication is vital. The Principal of Phek Government College, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir addressed the students on the occasion about the changing education system, which requires more skill-based and creative thinking. The concept of organizing the College fest aims to foster the students’ talents and skills, and provide a platform to enhance their abilities. The events included various competitions like Solo, Quartet, Poetry, Debate, Essay writing and prepared speech.
The Special Guest for the second day was Col. Chundawat PS, SC, Commandant 38 Assam Rifles, Phek who expressed gratitude towards the College and the community at large, for always being supportive and praised the Nagas for being true to themselves and being honest. He elucidated on the importance of the youths to bring change and work towards nation building with academics being crucial, but extra-curricular activities should never be neglected to build oneself.

On the second day, activities such as Cosplay, Dance, Photography, Videography, Painting, War Cry competition were conducted with the participation of Government Higher Secondary Schools from Phek andChozuba and well as students from Christian Mission Higher Secondary School, Phek.
A street play on Mental Health by District Mental Health Program and District Hospital, Phek was exhibited sidelining the importance of mental well-being. The programme also had exhibitions from Model Career Centre (MCC) and registration of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Internship Program by the Entrepreneur Associates, Nagaland.
The Fest ended with an extravaganza session featuring artists from across the districts. The event was sponsored by TAFMA PhekUnit, Evening Smashers and National Service Scheme of the College.
