The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (Mokokchung Town Ao Youth Organisation) has strongly condemned the recent abduction of two persons in Dimapur on 10th October 2024 and the subsequent extortion demand from the same business owner by a certain Naga political group.
In the press release, the MTLT mentioned that the victims were handymen of Chümoukedima based ‘Living Water’ package drinking water business.
Extending solidarity with the youth organizations of Diphupar and Chümoukedima that have already expressed their outrage and condemnation against such anti-social activities, the organisation stated that it “takes strong note that the two abducted persons/handymen were bonafide Ao Naga citizens and such abduction with apparent sinister designs cannot be tolerated at any costs.”
Further, MTLT President Imnaonen Pongen and General Secretary Moarenba Ozukum noted that at such a time, when the Naga youths are slowly exploring different ways and means to earn an honest living by engaging in different activities, the actions of the certain anti-social elements are greatly undermining and vitiating the peaceful environment of the society. It added that such actions greatly undermine even the noble Naga political issue and poses a grave danger to the peace and livelihood of innocent citizens.
The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, therefore, urged the concern authority, particularly the law enforcing agencies, to be more vigilant and ensure that such incidents are thwarted before it occurs. The Organisation has also demanded for expediting of the case and the culprits at the earliest.
