The 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of Mt. Tiyi College, Wokha, was today graced by Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Government of Nagaland as the special guest, attended by Mhathung Yanthan Advisor for Agriculture as the Special invite and Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe MLA as the Chief Patron.
Speaking at the event, Along praised the elders, past leaders, and teaching faculties, both past and present, for their dedicated efforts in nurturing the college over the past five decades.
In his speech, he congratulated the Alumni Association and the landowners of the college, urging them to continue their contributions and services for the institution’s growth. Along called on all stakeholders to unite in pursuing the addition of a Science stream, noting that the college currently only offers Arts courses despite its 50-year history.
He spoke on themes of unity, growth, and development, advocating for societal transformation through the pursuit of true knowledge. Along also highlighted the college’s journey, acknowledging the early difficulties and celebrating the eminent leaders it has produced in various fields over the years. He encouraged the community to come together for the progress of the college, aiming to prepare for its 100-year celebration in the future.

Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor for Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, who was the special invite of the event reminisced about the college’s humble beginnings and its journey over the past five decades. Yanthan lauded the college for shaping countless lives and contributing significantly to the community. He acknowledged the visionary local leaders who established the institution despite challenging times and honored the faculty and staff for their tireless efforts in maintaining its legacy.
Highlighting the college’s achievements, Yanthan emphasized the importance of community engagement and urged continued support and contribution from all stakeholders. He envisioned a future of enhanced academic excellence, infrastructural development, and global collaborations for Mt. Tiyi College.
Yanthan concluded by urging students to dream big and work hard, reaffirming the collective commitment to the transformative power of education. He expressed his best wishes for the college’s continued success and growth.
Jubilee greetings were delivered by Chubatola Longkumer, former principal, Dr. K. C. Murry, former principal and V. Lovitoly Sema, NCS Jt. Secretary H&TE and ex-officio Director, Higher Education, while Hachio Patton PRO to Deputy Chief Minister of Nagalad Y. Patton spoke on behalf of the college alumni.
Inauguration of Jubilee Memorial Park & Unveiling of Plaque was conducted by Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe MLA while the unveiling of Golden Jubilee Monument was conducted by Temjen Imna Along earlier in the programme, and jubilee souvenir and memento was unveiled by Mhathung Yanthan during the programme.
The event was attended by alumni, faculty, students, and members of the local community, all celebrating the significant milestone in the history of Mt. Tiyi College.
