Tsakou Youth Association, P. Khel Kohima Village celebrates 50 years

The Tsakou Youth Association, P. Khel Kohima Village celebrated its 50 years of growth and success since its humble beginning that started in the year 1974 with a one day celebration of the Golden Jubilee year organized by the Association on the 29 December, 2024 at Sotenuomia Mechiiki, Gariizou.

The Chief Guest, Thejawelie Gregory Sote (IAS), Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Water Resources, graced the occasion by unveiling the Golden Jubilee monolith at Tsakou Rhiiba Mechiiki followed by the hosting of the Jubilee flag at the main venue. Having insights on the association’s journey and the Tsakou Rhiiba of P. Khel, Kohima Village, Gregory acknowledged the visionary elders and leaders who have sacrificed and toiled for the upliftment of the community. He lauded the TYA leaders, both past and present for successfully carrying out the challenges and goals on education , employment, and cleanliness, which were envisioned during the Silver Jubilee celebration in the year 1999. He also appraised the entire congregation on the importance of building and nurturing one’s own family that holds an immense share in building a just society.

He laid special emphasis on a balance role between the ambitious youths and the wisdom of elders in building a progressive society basing on truthfulness and fostering what is right and just. The president of the TYA, Theyiesanyü Sote presented a brief report on the activities and events in regard to the year-long celebration of the association’s Golden Jubilee celebration. He also highlighted a statistical report on the achievements of its members in the fields of academics , competitive exams, medical and engineering steams, sports, and various other professional and non-professional courses.

Taking an example of some of its members working and pursuing higher studies abroad, the president also encouraged the youths to broaden their visions and dream beyond the ordinary.

The event was also blessed with the presence of invitees from various associations, as well as well-wishers from the extended families of the Tsakou Rhüba. Great were the torch bearers of the time who initiated the formation of the association with simple yet compelling visions to unite and strive in building a stronger community, fostering brotherhood and knowledge seeking community, informed the press release.
