Minister of Housing & Mechanical Engineering, P. Bashangmongba Chang graced the Hok-Ah Festival on January 17, 2025 at Langnok village under Noklak district which was organised by Nokhu Range Public Organization under the theme ‘Progressive Society’. The festival witnessed a grand cultural feast and dances.
In his address, Chang extended the festival greetings and also lauded the NRPO for maintaining peace and unity and encouraged them to be the torch bearer which will continue for generations. He expressed concerns over the corruption affecting the Eastern society and urged the NRPO to be exemplary for their community and Eastern Nagas.
Noting that Noklak now a district, Chang urged the people to maintain good relationship not only with politicians but with district administration.
Further, the Minister advocated on self reliance through skill development given the limited jobs in the government sector. Appreciating the skill of the people particularly in handicrafts, he urged the range people to polish and enhance their skills.
Shangchiu, President, Khiamniungan Students’ Union, stressed that harvest is not only associate with agriculture but the progress in other factors too, adding that festival should be thanksgiving to God.
Former president, Nokhu Range Students’, Talamong urged the people to receive the Hok-Ah blessings through peace and unity among the people. He requested the leaders of various organisations to inspire the youngsters through their examplary life.
EAC Nokhu Hq, Menlom Phom in his speech emphasized the importance of viewing the day of celebration as a reflection of hard work rather than just a festive occasion. He encouraged the gathering to learn from experienced individuals and adapting to changes. Additionally, he stressed on sustainable and judicious use of natural resources while highlighting the need for development in the district.
Earlier, the program was chaired by S.Chongtin and Henkong, invocation by S.Kholi, Pastor, Choklangan Baptist Church, welcome address by Pengchang, VCC, Langnok, special number by Choklangan Public Organization ( Folk Fusion) and benediction by Tanghiu, Pastor, Aniangan Baptist Church.
