In respond to the allegations of foul play in the appointment of new teams of officials of the Kiphire District Congress Committee (DCC) and its subordinate committees by some members, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has said that the accusations are “baseless and misleading” and urged the members to avoid questioning the legitimacy of the duly appointed DCC President and his new team.
In a clarification, the NPCC stated that in accordance with the rules and due process as laid down in the party Constitution suspended the previous officials of Kiphire DCC and its subordinate committees on 19/01/2025 for a period one month, with the directive to reorganize the said committees within the stipulated period of one month. Additionally, PCC Members from the two ACCCs were also placed under suspension through a separate order dated 20/01/2025, with the same stated directive, it stated.
Accordingly, a Nominating Committee was formed and new teams of officials for Kiphire DCC as well as its subordinate committees, including that of 59 Seyochung – Sitimi ACCC and 60 Pungro – Kiphire ACCC, under the leadership of K Tsalimong as DCC President, were appointed on 16/01/2025, Nagaland Congress said.
The NPCC has also stated that members continuing to doubt the appointments not only undermines the office of the DCC but may also be construed as insubordination and a direct challenge to the authority of the NPCC.
