On Day 1 of the COL C K Nayudu Trophy clash between Nagaland and Saurashtra at Sovima Cricket Ground, Sovima, Saurashtra scored a massive 386 for loss of only two wickets after winning the toss and electing to bat.
Smitrajsinh of Saurashtra played a stellar knock, scoring 134 off 154 balls, laced with 11 fours and 6 sixes while Raj Waghela contributed a well-constructed 95 off 135 balls, including 10 boundaries and 2 sixes. Raxit Mehta anchored the innings with an unbeaten 75* off 118 balls, hitting 7 fours and 1 six. H S Kotak too provided steady support with 60* off 136 balls, ensuring a strong finish to the day.
Nagaland’s Neizekho made an important breakthrough, dismissing Smitrajsinh with figures of 1/71 in 17 overs while Mughavi Sumi bowled an economical spell, finishing with 1/39 in 11 overs.
The Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) said in its press release that on Day 2, Saurashtra will look to build on their momentum and post an imposing total to put Nagaland under pressure. On the other hand, Nagaland will aim to strike early in the first session to limit the scoring and regain control. With both teams eager to establish dominance, the morning session will be crucial in setting the tone for the remainder of the match, it added.
