Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) showcased their dominance in the athletic events of the ongoing 38th Phek District Sports Association meet, claiming top honors of the athletics events on Friday in Phek Town.
Following the conclusion of the athletic events on Day-3, Best Athletes were adjudged to Beduto Ringa of Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) for winning two gold medals in the 800m, 1500m, and a gold in the 4x200m relay race.
Cekrotalü Khüsoh, also from CASA, was named the Best Female Athlete for securing three gold medals in the 800m, 1500m, and 4x200m mixed relay, along with a bronze in the 4x100m relay race.
Chozuba Area Sports Association continued to dominate on Day 3, topping the medal table with 28 medals (15 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze) increasing two gold in medal tally.
In the last track event of the sporting meet, Veyito Tetseo and Vekhohulu Dozo secured two more gold medals for Chozuba Area in the 5000m race.
Veyito Tetseo finished the race in 18 minutes and 43 seconds to win gold. Raku Lohe (18:57.53) and Mhasezu Medeo (19:01) secured second and third positions, respectively.
In the women’s category, Vekhohulu Dozo finished the race in 22 minutes and 34 seconds to win gold, while Muvelhulu Veswuh (23:43) and Boduralu Lohe (24:34) took second and third positions, respectively.
In men’s basketball, Pool A group winner Chokri Area Games and Sports Association will play against Chozuba Area Sports Association in the first semifinal match on Friday. Pool B topper Western Chakhesang Youth Association will face Centre Chakhesang Sports Association in the other semifinal match.

In the women’s basketball event, Chokri Area Sports Association won both their matches to secure a semifinal berth. The remaining teams will play their matches to decide the playoff spots.
In Group A of the football event, defending champions Chozuba Area Sports Association won a match and drew another to secure a semifinal berth as runners-up. They drew with Sekruzu Area and Phek Area and defeated Tizu Area 3-1. Vehuto Ringa scored the first hat-trick of the tournament in the match against Tizu Area. Tizu Area, with two wins and one loss, secured a semifinal berth as Group A winners.
In Group B, Secheku Range Sports Association topped the group with two wins and one draw. They defeated Western Chakhesang and Chokri Area, settling for a draw with Centre Chakhesang.
The Pool B runners-up will be determined when Centre Chakhesang takes on Western Chakhesang, with a victory needed to secure a semifinal berth as they currently have only two points from two matches. Chokri Area remains on standby with one win, one draw, and four points after losing their last league match against Secheku Range 2-0.
Semifinal matches for both men’s and women’s football, basketball, and volleyball will be played on Friday.
At the end of Day 3, CAGSA remained in second place with 22 medals (11 gold, 9 silver, and 2 bronze), while Centre Chakhesang Sports Association was in third place with 14 medals (5 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze). Secheku Range Sports Association remained at the bottom with four medals (1 silver and 3 bronze).
