Lotha Middle Range Public Organisation condemns sexual assault

The Lotha Middle Range Public Organisation (LMRPO) has condemned the rape of a minor belonging to Pangti Village by Tama Ngullie in the month of February, 2025.

“The crime committed against the defenceless, innocent female minor student is a very serious violation of human rights’ and has created an irreparable scar/ fear psychosis on the victim , with shame and stigma for her and family and has send shock waves to the Lotha,Naga tribe(s) as a whole. Words are inadequate to express the anguish, relating to the physical, psychological and sociological impact on the victim,” stated the organisation.

The LMRPO viewed the act, as defiance /breach to all the customs/traditions, laws and practices of the land and its people since inception. The organisation has urged the concerned authority to take stern action against the culprit as per the law, so as to put a check, to such incidents from re-occurrence in the near future.

The LMRPO also requested the concerned authority(ies) to book the culprit(s) as per the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act,2012 enacted by the Government for the punishment for the sexual assault, harassment etc.on children.

While expressing solidarity with the victim and her family, the LMRPO reiterated that it will not remain a spectator until justice is done and further requested the citizens, authorities, leaders and CSOs of the Lotha community support the victim and her family in this crucial hour.
