The School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Medziphema campus, hosted its 31st Parting Social on May 16, 2025 in the Multipurpose Hall, bidding a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing batch of students of B.Sc. (Hons) Ag. 4th Year, B.Voc. 3rd Year & M.Sc. (Hons.) 2nd Year.
The event was graced by Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Nagaland, as the Special Guest, informed a press release by the PRO, NU. Dr. Chang addressed the outgoing students, emphasizing that they are now stepping into a crucial new phase of life, where independence and self-direction are key. Life, he reminded, is a continuous learning process filled with challenges that shape personal and professional growth.
He encouraged students to set clear goals, especially in today’s competitive world. As agriculture students, he noted, they hold an important role in contributing to the economy and uplifting farming communities. He also stressed the importance of bringing agricultural knowledge to the grassroot level.
He concluded by wishing all students success in their future and expressed confidence that the university would continue to produce accomplished graduates. He also emphasized the importance of perseverance, innovation, and social responsibility in the field of agricultural sciences and encouraged the graduating students to become catalysts of change in rural development and sustainable agriculture.

The programme was chaired by Wikamlung Nring, General Secretary of SU, SAS, with the welcome address delivered by Prof. L. Daiho, Dean, NU, SAS, who congratulated the outgoing students on their accomplishments and reminded them to uphold the values of the institution as they step into the world.
An exhortation was delivered by Prof. Malini B. Sharma, Head, Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, who inspired the students with reflections on academic growth, resilience, and the path ahead in research and fieldwork.
The highlight of the event was the farewell speech by representatives from the outgoing batches, who reminisced about their journey, experiences, and cherished memories at SAS, drawing both laughter and tears. Speech on behalf of the remaining students was delivered by Imnasashi Walling, Social & Cultural Secretary, SU, SAS.
The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Engamle Hega, Assistant Games & Sports Secretary, SUSAS.
