The department of Industries and Commerce on Tuesday conferred the Entrepreneur Award 2024 to seven individuals in recognition of their exceptional contributions across various fields.
The recipients were Aolemba Longkumer of Country Craft Dimapur who was recognised for his exceptional entrepreneurial spirit and innovation in the craft sector, establishing himself as a trailblazer in Naga handicrafts; Seyielezo Putsure of the Entrepreneur School of Business Dimapur for his exemplary role as an entrepreneur, educator, and ecosystem builder, driving entrepreneurial innovation and business education in the region; Dr. Temjennungsang of Dental Touch & Facial Aesthetics Dimapur for his unwavering commitment to continuous learning, clinical excellence, and for elevating the standards of dental and aesthetic care in the region; Hongba Phom of Fingerprint Dimapur for his visionary approach in blending business with purpose, using design and innovation to promote community upliftment and sustainable growth; Ruovilhoukho Chuzho of Naga Feather Pvt. Ltd. Dimapur for his pioneering work in crafting high-quality bamboo and wood products, emphasizing sustainability and fine craftsmanship; Huveta Huprem of Veta Studio Kohima for his creativity, perseverance, and excellence in leather craftsmanship; and Khuhevi Khuju of Zunheboto for his exceptional skill and dedication to preserving intricate traditional design through his craftsmanship.
The entrepreneurs were honoured at an event held at the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Kohima under the theme “Turning Ideas into Reality and Challenges into Opportunities”.
In his keynote address, director Industries and Commerce, P Tokugha Sema congratulated all the awardees and commended their dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. He noted that the success of the Entrepreneur Award 2024 was the result of collective effort and teamwork. Expressing gratitude to the government of Nagaland, Sema acknowledged its vital support in making the event possible and highlighted that the initiative was designed to recognize and celebrate the significant contributions of entrepreneurs to society and economic development. He also extended appreciation to MLA and advisor for Industries and Commerce Hekani Jakhalu for her role in bringing the event to fruition and for securing the necessary approvals from the government.

Jakhalu, in her address, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship and promoting inclusive development. She expressed her appreciation to the entrepreneurs for their resilience and contributions to societal progress. She encouraged them to make use of various government schemes available to support their ventures and emphasized the importance of continuous growth, innovation, and learning.
Addressing both emerging and established entrepreneurs, the MLA stressed the need to embrace new technologies and maintain a spirit of ambition. She also highlighted the government’s readiness to collaborate with young and local entrepreneurs to build a stronger, more self-reliant economy. She further urged the awardees to stay focused on their goals and serve as mentors to aspiring entrepreneurs.
