The first NorthEast Geology and Mining Ministers’ Conclave will be held at Niathu Resort, Chümoukedima, Nagaland on 31 October 2022.

Union Minister of Mines, Coal and Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi will grace the conclave as the chief guest, the Ministry of Mines has informed.

The ministry also said that the upcoming conclave is the result of a request received during the National Mining Ministers’ Conference, held at Hyderabad in September this year, for a similar one but exclusively for North Eastern states.

The one-day meeting will have two sessions and conclude with a cultural programme.

In the first session, discussions and deliberations will be held amongst different State ministers of the NE States pertaining to mining and geological activities in the region.

In the second session, the course and gist of the deliberations will be presented to Minister Pralhad Joshi for further action.

The conclave will prove to be an effective platform for discussing issues specific to the NE region and serve the ministry’s desire for the mineral rich NE states to explore and auction mines, which will ultimately lead to development of the region, the statement said.
