Nagaland Taekwondo team has brought immense pride to the state and the country by winning three gold medals at the Seongnam Open International Taekwondo Championships held in South Korea from July 18 to 20.
The team, led by Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources and Sports, was accompanied by Pele Khezhie, President of the Nagaland Taekwondo Association, Theja Keretsu, Team Manager, and Visabiu Peseyie, Coach. The tournament featured intense competition with participation from 21 countries, making Nagaland’s achievement all the more significant.

The gold medal winners from Nagaland are: P. Athongti – Gold in Under 49 kg category; Sentimoa Ozukum – Gold in Under 55 kg category and Vilabizo Nagi – Gold in Under 68 kg category.
The team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nagaland under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports under Advisor, S Keoshu Yimkhiung, for the opportunity and support extended to the Nagaland Taekwondo Association and the sporting fraternity as a whole.
As part of their visit to South Korea, the delegation will also engage with World Taekwondo leaders and officials to explore future collaborations for the development and promotion of the sport in Nagaland.
