SAPO appeals to Deputy CM for immediate restoration of NH-29/A-1 blocked by landslide

In light of the recent heavy rainfall triggering a massive landslide along the crucial NH-29/A-1, the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has urgently appealed to the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland for immediate intervention and restoration efforts.

In a representation, signed by SAPO president, Tepul Hopovi, general secretary, Tepungosa Sale and technical committee general secretary, Kevipopi Ltu, submitted to the Deputy Chief Minister, SAPO highlighted that the incessant downpour has trigged a significant landslide, resulting in large debris falling from the upper side of the road, which has posed an immense threat to human life, property, and local communities, necessitating prompt action to mitigate potential risks.

The SAPO requested the Deputy Chief Minister for immediate intervention in the matter and direct NHIDCL and appropriate authorities such as the Public Works Department and Disaster Management Cell to undertake urgent clearance and restoration works on NH-29/A-1

It also requested to issue a cautionary advisory to alert travelers, commuters, and local resident about the hazardous road conditions, ensuring that necessary safety measures are implemented to prevent accidents and damage.

SAPO expressed hope that the government would respond to swiftly to this critical matter to ensure safety and accessibility of this vital transportation artery.
