The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has expressed deep concerns over the recent eviction drive undertaken by the Government of Assam, citing potential ramifications on demographic stability and socio-economic integrity in the region.

In view of this, the USCC has advised non-local residents to refrain from facilitating the entry or settlement of additional non-local persons in Kiphire district and Longkhim Sub-Division.

It has urged the district administration to temporarily suspend the issuance of permits, including Inner Line Permits, to incoming non-local individuals, and to conduct strict verification of documents for all individuals entering and exiting the district.

The USCC further directed local contractors and development agencies to refrain from employing new non-local labourers or personnel for construction or infrastructure-related activities.

It has cautioned that extensive surprise checking would be conducted, and any individuals found in possession of new entries would be dealt with seriousness.
