Samir Thapa, a Chartered Accountant and representative of GIAN, said at the District planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting on Saturday, “GIAN is here in the aspirational district to facilitate, renovate and guide grassroots local entrepreneurs to find their true potential in business.”
GIAN (Gujarat Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network), set up in 1997, is an organisation whose major aim is to incubate grassroots innovations and help development of successful enterprises. The society provides the innovators with adequate linkages to modern science and technology, market research, design institutions and funding organizations.
Thapa, while introducing the society, said that GIAN’s presence is all over India and that organisation does not have a fixed category of products of interests and that it could be medicines, handicrafts, agricultural products etc. The locally finished products must be properly and wisely selected and initiated accordingly GIAN will guide the local Grassroots entrepreneurs in the journey to become successful entrepreneurs.

“The golden triangle for rewarding creativity” is the motto of GIAN, he added.
According to GIAN, the reduction in ex-ante and ex-post transaction cost of innovators, investors, and entrepreneurs is achieved by several operating principles: Never to ask innovators to come to the office, instead provide them support at their doorstep; organize financial, intellectual property, product development, validation & value addition, business development, and dissemination support; connect them to the nearest resources instead of asking them to come to an urban centre.
DPDB Kiphire appreciated Samir Thapa’s presentation at the monthly Board meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Wati Aier.
