The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has announced that it will not be organizing the 64th Teachers’ Day program this year, a role it has traditionally taken up in Mokokchung district.

In a press release, AKM informed that the decision was made in view of the unresolved issue concerning the reservation policy under review by the 5-Tribes Committee. The committee had resolved that there shall be non-participation in all State Government functions until the matter is addressed and resolved by the Government.

Standing in solidarity with the resolution, AKM said it will refrain from organizing the Teachers’ Day program for 2025. It expressed regret for any inconvenience caused but appealed for understanding from the student community, teaching fraternity, and the general public.

While acknowledging the invaluable contributions of teachers to society, AKM emphasized that its respect and gratitude for the teaching community remain unchanged despite not holding the formal celebration this year.
