A bridge in Lengnyu village used as a lifeline connecting more than 10 villages in Noklak district was completely washed away on Monday due to heavy rainfall. The bridge was constructed several months ago through community contributions, and served as a vital lifeline for transportation and access to essential services for the local population.

Lengnyu Village Council (LVC) chairman Langshe Chio informed that the sudden destruction of the bridge has left the villages isolated, intensifying the hardship faced by the residents.

Expressing dismay with the political leaders and administration, the village leader urged upon the authorities to recognize and act on the longstanding infrastructural challenges faced by the villagers of the area.

The bridge collapse poses the most urgent local crisis, which is affecting the daily life and access to healthcare, markets, and schools in the region.

The community has appealed for immediate intervention and support from the government to rebuild the bridge and provide temporary relief measures.
