Consumer awareness programme held in Wokha institutions

The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection (LMCP), Wokha, in collaboration with the Consumer Rights Organization Wokha, organised a Consumer Awareness Programme on September 22. The programme was conducted simultaneously at four institutions – Mt Tiyi College (IQAC), Witter Theological College, Springdale School and Bethsaida School, Wokha.

Held under the theme “Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection: The Journey towards Viksit Bharat – 2047,” the programme aimed at sensitizing students and the public on consumer rights and responsibilities.

Assistant Controller, LMCP Wokha, T Aimong, in his keynote address, urged business communities to uphold ethical trade practices. He also encouraged young people, students, and civil society members to be proactive in safeguarding consumer rights and to stand firm for fairness and justice.

Serving as the resource person, Surenthung Enny, Member of the District Consumer Redressal Forum, highlighted the six fundamental consumer rights and their significance in preventing exploitation and unfair trade. He maintained that informed consumers are vital in establishing transparency and accountability in markets.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from LMCP Inspector, Silo Jemu, who acknowledged the institutions and stakeholders for their participation and support.
