Acting on a written complaint from Prof. Rosemary Dzüvichü, Advisor to the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), the Cybercrime Police Station, Kohima, initiated action against a Facebook user for issuing death threats and derogatory remarks in the group “Unified Nagaland for Christ”. Police on September 24 apprehended the accused, identified as Walonir (WJ) Longkumer, 38, a resident of Dimapur.
Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, IPS, informed that the complaint was transferred from the Cybercrime Police Station to Diphupar Police Station, where a criminal case was registered. The accused is in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
The Commissioner reiterated that all threats to safety and security of individuals, whether conveyed physical or through digital platforms, would be dealt with stringently as per the provisions of law.
Any action intended to intimidate or endanger citizens would not be tolerated under any circumstances, the Commissioner of Police said and advised the public to remain assured that law enforcement agencies would continue to act decisively against all such nefarious activities.
Organizations condemn death threat to Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü
NMA:
Various organizations have condemned the death threat on the Advisor of Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü by one WJ Longkumer, a resident of Dimapur through an online post.
The NMA, while condemning the death threat, said that the vicious vulgar language of sexual violence and murder is unacceptable and highly condemnable.
“The reference by the perpetrator to the reservation of women issue has brought back sharp images and memories of the threats and violence faced by the Naga mothers’ leaders and many women from the various tribe women organisation over this issue,” the NMA stated.
The NMA categorically stated that inciting violence once again against women leader Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü and other women activists is diabolical in nature and indicates the deep web of conspiracy to threaten and intimidate strong women voices that articulates our rights for peace, equality and justice.
The NMA appealed to the law enforcement agency to investigate thoroughly to ensure due legal action is awarded against the individual WJ Longkumer for his hateful and vulgar death threat.
It appealed to investigate against the Administrator/Moderator of the two social media where this objectionable death threat has been posted (1) Unified Naga Land for Christ, and (2) The Chronicles of Nagas.
The NMA further appealed to the law enforcing agencies to ensure adequate protection for Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü, Adviser, Naga Mothers’ Association and other women activists who are facing intimidations.
National People’s Party:
The National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit has condemned the recent threat made against Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) advisor, Rosemary Dzuvichü by WJ Longkumer on Fackbook- Unified Nagaland for Christ stating that the issuance of a death threat and the use of abusive language is not only unacceptable but also a direct attack on the values of democracy, dignity, and mutual respect that form the foundation of a healthy society.
The NPP firmly believed that any issue concerning the people, community, or society must be discussed across the table in a spirit of dialogue and understanding. It said resorting to intimidation, threats, or undemocratic styles of expression is highly detrimental to the social fabric and has no place in today’s advanced and progressive world.
It urged every right-thinking citizen to denounce such cowardly actions and discourage any attempt to normalize threats or violence in public life. It further demanded that appropriate action be taken against the culprit(s) as per the existing law of the land.
The NPP also appealed to all citizens, civil society organizations, and community leaders to stand firm against such acts and ensure that respect, tolerance, and dialogue remain the guiding principles of our society. It is the duty of every responsible citizen to refrain from encouraging or engaging in such behavior, as it is detrimental to the complex and delicate Naga social and political structure.
The NPP further assured its solidarity with Rosemary Dzuvichü and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the principles of democracy, justice, and equality for all.

Rotary Club Kohima:
The Rotary Club Kohima has expressed deepest concern and strongest condemnation of the recent derogatory anode threatening remarks made on social media against Prof. Rosemary Dzüvichü, its Charter President and a respected public figure.
“Such malicious and cowardly acts are an assault not only on the dignity of an individual but also on the principles of mutual respect, harmony, and justice that form the foundation of any society. Freedom of speech must never be misused to demean, threaten, or silence others,” it stated.
Club President Kevino Rio in the press release stated that while the accused, WJ Longkumer, has been arrested, firmly believe that this matter cannot end with an arrest alone.
The Rotary Club Kohima called upon the Government and law enforcement authorities to pursue this case with seriousness and urgency, and to ensure that adequate safety and protection are provided to Prof. Dzüvichü.
They expressed their full support of Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü and affirmed that threats and intimidation will never succeed in silencing voices of truth and courage.
Ao Lanur Telongjem:
The Ao Lanur Telongjem (ALT) has expressed shock and indignation at the cowardly death threat issued by an individual using the purported name WJ Longkumer through a Facebook page against Prof Rosemary Dzüvichü on September 23.
Stating that such an act is utterly reprehensible and deserves to be censured, condemned, and dealt with firmly under the law, the ALT strongly denounced the unwarranted and malicious threat made against her and stands in full solidarity with Prof. Dzüvichü.
The Telongjem called upon the law enforcement authorities to treat this matter with utmost seriousness.
NSCN (IM):
The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has expressed shock at the Facebook viral news posted by one WJ Longkumer in the group “Unified Naga Land For Christ” that has “crossed the boundary of today’s civilized society” as he used highly vulgar and profane language against Prof. Rose Mary Dzuvichu for standing up for the women’s democratic and human rights.
Stating that such language went far beyond a mere personal insult, the NSCN (IM) said it constitutes a direct attack on women’s dignity, modesty and character. Such derogatory slur and abusive language against women is not acceptable in today’s world, particularly in Naga society, it added.
The NSCN (IM) further stated that this person shamelessly tried to connect himself as a member of NSCN and clarified that he is in no way connected to NSCN in any manner whatsoever.
“For his recklessness to bring NSCN in bad light, we shall consider deemed necessary to deal with him in befitting manner,” it stated.
Ao Students’ Conference (AKM):
The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has strongly condemned a recent Facebook post made on September 23 in the group Unified Naga Land for Christ by an individual identified as Walu Longkumer, which contained abusive and death-threatening language directed at Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichü.
In a condemnation note issued on September 25, AKM stated that such vile, violent, and cowardly attacks have no place in a democratic and civilized society. It said the use of derogatory and threatening language against a respected academic, activist, and advocate for gender justice is not only unacceptable but also an assault on the values of dignity, peace, and mutual respect upheld by society.
Expressing unwavering solidarity with Prof. Dzuvichü, AKM acknowledged her as a courageous and leading voice in advancing gender justice and peace within Naga society. The statement asserted that intimidation and threats will never silence those who work for truth and justice.
The organization also called upon the authorities to take immediate and appropriate action against those responsible, to ensure accountability and to prevent recurrence of such reprehensible acts.
Further, AKM urged all right-thinking citizens to reject hate, violence, and abuse in any form, and to stand united in fostering a society rooted in respect, justice, and peace.
Lirmen Students’ Union:
The Lirmen Students’ Union (LKM) has issued an outright condemnation of the violent threats and derogatory language expressed in a recent social media post by Walu Longkumer, targeting Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichü, a prominent social activist and educationist.
In its statement, LKM said the post contained extreme language that promotes violence against women perceived as arrogant or feminist, using graphic and threatening terminology. The union stated that issuing such threats and abuse, especially against women, is not only a criminal act but also a grave moral failing.
It asserted that such behaviour has no place in a society that values dignity, respect, and justice, and added that such rhetoric is unacceptable as it contributes to a culture of hostility and fear.
LKM emphasized the importance of respectful dialogue and condemned any form of threat or harassment towards individuals based on gender, opinions, or actions.
The union further demanded swift and decisive action by law enforcement against the individual responsible. It also urged all individuals to refrain from using language that incites violence or demeans others, stressing that respectful communication and empathy towards all are crucial for building a healthy and safe community.
