The Niuland District Planning & Development Board (DPDB), meeting was held on July 28 at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Niuland under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & Vice- Chairman DPDB, Niuland, T L Kiusumong Tikhir.
While reviewing the last DPDB meeting, the members deliberated on ceiling repairing of Multipurpose Hall cum Auditorium of GHS Aqhunag, road and bridge connectivity problem in Aghunaqa area. To redress the issues, the board decided for compulsory contribution of Rs. 5,000 by all Head of Departments. Members who are willing may contribute more than the stipulated amount.
EAC Aqhunaga, Border Magistrate has been given the responsibility to collect the contribution, and the members were briefed to complete the contribution before August 15, 2026.
The Board also stressed that a detailed report on the utilization of the collected fund along with an update on the work done should be placed before the Board in the next DPDB meeting. A detailed presentation on road connectivity in the Aghunaqa area was made by PWD (R&B), Dimapur Division. The presentation covers roads under Niuland district PWD (R&B), the current connectivity status of other district roads, village roads, and the challenges posed by soil erosion.

After due deliberation, the Board approved the proposal of Nitozu-Pihekhu Road (6.00 Km) to the concerned department for examination, along with the Concept Note and DPR.
The Chairman of Niuland Town Council also apprised the Board about the deplorable condition of the road stretch between 4th Mile, New Showuba till Niuland. Taking note of the matter, the Deputy Commissioner urged the concerned departments, namely Urban Development and PWD (R&B), to take responsibility for the maintenance of the said road and to at least take up filling of potholes in selected areas on a priority basis.
The Board also deliberated on various schemes under LADP 2026-2027 for Ghaspani-1 A/C and approved the same.
DPO, Land Resources, V Vikugha Sema made a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the activities of the Department. He highlighted various schemes of the Department such as LPAKSY-BDC, NEC Project, and State Schemes & RIDF. The DPO further apprised the Board that the department is focusing on the following key developmental activities, Coffee Development, Rubber Development, Arecanut Development and Springshed Management.
