A new homestay, Hill Sight Homestay, officially opened its doors on October 2 at DC Hill, Sangtemla Ward, below the Commissioner’s Guest House, offering a cozy accommodation option for visitors to Mokokchung Town and the local residents alike.

The homestay is a joint venture between lifelong friends, Longpok Longkumer from Chungtia Village and

Mendilong Ao from Changki village. Sharing their vision, the duo informed that their aim was to create a home-like space for guests visiting Mokokchung.

“We wanted to accommodate people who need a comfortable and spacious homestay while enjoying the scenic view and serene atmosphere. It is also for the citizens of Mokokchung who may require a place to stay for personal or official reasons,” they said.

The homestay features six rooms, including a kitchen and a spacious sitting room. Among these, there are two rooms with king-size beds, priced at ₹2,000 each per night, with attached bathrooms; one room with a queen-size bed at ₹1,500 per night; and two rooms, each furnished with two single beds, at just ₹1,000 per room.

The duo informed that a full-house package is available for ₹6,000 until the end of the month of October.

Guests who prefer to cook can use the self-service kitchen with just ₹500, which includes modern facilities such as an exhaust hood, fireplace, dining area, washing basins, 24×7 water supply, gas stove connection, and all necessary utensils. For those who prefer to be served, the homestay provides food prepared by a chef, focusing on authentic Ao cuisines. The menu will be updated on the homestay’s official Instagram page, @Hill_Sight_homestay.

The homestay also offers 24×7 WiFi, an inverter, spacious balconies, wide corridors, and ample parking.

The duo mentioned that rules and regulations are displayed at the entrance for guests’ convenience.

When asked about the name, they said, “It is called Hill Sight because of the view from here. The location at DC Hill gives a serene view of the surrounding hills, and the weather is pleasant throughout the year.”

The duo further explained that apart from the usual hotel options, which can be pricey, they wanted to introduce a cozy and affordable alternative for both locals and visitors. “This homestay is dedicated to our people and to all those who visit Mokokchung. We want to offer a space where guests can enjoy comfort, authentic food, and a home-like atmosphere,” they said.

The homestay provides check-in from 8 a.m. and check-out at 11 a.m. and offers bookings for weddings, birthdays, and other events. Concessions are available for long-duration stays, and seasonal charges will be updated on their official page on Instagram.
