Additionally, the cases were taken up by Mediators who have undergone 40 hours mediation training.
During the mediation campaign, cases on money suit, custody case, consumer disputes, family disputes, criminal compoundable cases, accident claims, recovery suit, motor accident claims and other civil matters were taken up for settlement. However, many of the cases could not reach settlement due to various reasons including non response of parties at some stage of sitting, lack of interest on Mediation, request for more time to settle matter among others.
Mediation is a legal process through which opposing parties can resolve conflicts. It is one method of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) where a neutral person guides opposing parties to a resolution. It is an alternative to resolving a legal dispute through a trial or court case.
In Nagaland, under the NSLSA, 52 legal practitioners have undergone mediation training imparted by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
Parties interested to resolve the disputes amicably can further approach respective DLSA Front Offices in all districts or the office of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) as during the upcoming 4th Quarterly National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on December 13, 2025
