25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy: ALT Manipur beat KUFC 3-1 to enter semis

In a thriller merit for a quarterfinals match, Manipur’s Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT) booked a berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 25th anniversary edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy after beating a strong Kuki United FC (KUFC) side 3-1 on Tuesday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.

Playing the fourth quarterfinal, Kuki United took an early lead with Seivanglen Kuki scoring the first goal of the match in the 29th minute. ALT managed to equalise in the extra time of the first half from the boot of Tongsin Thumsol (45+3 minute).

With a draw on the scoreboard in the second half, both teams played on attack-mode. Despite several chances, KUFC failed to capitalise.

ALT’s Winkle finally broke the tie by scoring a second goal for his team in the 60th minute. Five minutes later, Kagaly shot straight home taking a penalty kick to ensure a two goals advantage for ALT.

ALT’s Thumsol was presented the Player of the Match by the match patron assistant chief engineer CAWD Sungti Amer.

ALT will face Nagaland United SC on Thursday.
