Residents of Netaji colony in Dimapur celebrated the colony’s Silver Jubilee on 12 November with MLA & Advisor Power H Tovihoto Ayemi as the special guest.
On his arrival, the Advisor unveiled the jubilee monolith to mark the remarkable occasion.
Ayemi, in his speech, said Netaji colony is one of the most peaceful colonies inhabited by people from different religious beliefs and communities. This is the true essence of secularism, the special guest noted.
Encouraging the colony residents to always stay united, Ayemi said: “When there is unity there is strength and when there is strength there is everything.”
He added that people of today’s generation need to acknowledge and respect the pioneers who sacrificed everything to make the colony. The MLA further encouraged the gathering to embrace the spirit of forgiveness during such a celebration. Jubilee is also a time for celebration and to come together as one in spirit and prayers.
While mentioning Netaji colony as his second home, the special guest encouraged the residents to make it a model colony by continuing to build a good reputation.

Advocate P B Paul gave a brief history of the Netaji colony while short speeches were also delivered by Khetoli Chishi and advocate Y P Gupta.
Netaji Colony Chairman Wekhro K Mero delivered the welcome note while the pastor of Hope of Life Ministry, Sanjay Kr Dey, invoked God’s blessings.
Other highlights of the programme included special songs and dances. A vote of thanks was proposed by advocate K K Paul who is also the convenor of the Jubilee celebration committee while the benediction was pronounced by the pastor of Mao Baptist Church, Chumoukedima, Adage Neil.
