The local band Sariwar hosted the premiere of their debut eponymous single music video, “Sariwar,” on November 1, 2025, at Aroma Café, Mokokchung. Written by T Senka Ao and composed by the band, the song blends elements of folk and modern rock to reflect the spirit of Naga warrior heritage. The event was attended by esteemed guests, music enthusiasts, friends, and well-wishers. The band also revealed that they are currently working on two more original compositions.

Unveiling the music video, Chief Guest, Chubatoshi expressed that when he first heard about the band Sariwar, “there was a specific kind of feeling in my heart.” He said the name itself carries a deep connection to the Naga people — our culture, customs, practices, and history, and that through this music, “our culture will be connecting people.” Commending the band, he remarked that Sariwar has chosen something very unique and that he believes “everybody will like it.”

Calling upon everyone to truly engage with the song, he encouraged the audience to “have a feeling of our ancestors, the ancient Nagas, the Sariwars — warriors in hunting.” Drawing from Naga tradition, he reflected, “We have a history of hunting enemy heads, but this one is not for headhunting. The Sariwars will go out and hunt for hearts.”

He described the song as “a very good outreach mission for the Nagas — to go hunting for souls through music,” and wished the band “a successful and blessed journey.” Chubatoshi further added that “through this modern rock, the feelings of our ancestors will be brought out from this song.”

Speaking on behalf of the band, Sariwar’s frontman and vocalist, Asung Imchen, shared the story behind the group and their debut release. He said that Sariwar is a folk-fusion band formed in 2023 by their manager Sentiwapang and guitarist Jonathan Lemtur, and that the “Sariwar” name  itself means “warriors going for battle.”

Explaining the essence of their debut track “Sariwar,” Asung described it as a “victory song” and a tribute to the forefathers and warriors who fought for the people’s rights. “Though the storyline is fictional, it reflects our deep respect for those who came before us,” he said.

He went on to express that the song blends traditional and modern sounds, capturing the spirit of cultural diversity and unity through music. “We’re fighting for a world where music brings people together and transcends boundaries,” he said, adding that the band hopes the song leaves listeners energized and inspired.

Introducing the members, Asung shared that Sariwar comprises Jonathan Lemtur and Temjen Lemtur on guitars, Wapang Jamir on bass, Avizo on drums, and himself as the vocalist. “Each of the musicians brings a unique energy and skill set to our music,” he noted, “and I’m honoured to be part of this amazing team.”

The program lineup also featured a segment titled “Critics from the Best,” showcasing video clips of critical analyses and reactions to the band’s latest song from various artists and personalities.

Apen Tanujang, a digital content creator and traveller was the host of the event. Aosunep Ozukum pronounced the invocation. The event also featured a special appearance by guest artist Tiakumla Imsong. The premiere concluded with interactions among the attendees.
