The Nagaland government participated in this year’s India International Trade Fair (IITF) on 14 November.
The theme of this year’s IITF – a mega annual attraction in Delhi – is ‘Vocal for Local, Local to Global’.
As many as 14 counters have been set up in the Nagaland Pavillion which was formally inaugurated by Director Industries and Commerce Vitsutho Nyuthe.
Interacting with journalists on the occasion, he said: “For the last two years the IITF was not held due to Covid, and hence this year’s participation is important.”
Nyuthe also added that he was encouraged to see participants show enthusiasm and open their stalls despite the time constraints.
Sharing the sentiment of the Director, Asenla Walling, Pavillion Director of the Department, said: “I am personally indebted to all participants from Nagaland. Various Nagaland Handloom and food products are on display and I am sure all of them will go back with fair knowledge of such mega shows and at such a scale”.
Nagaland has rented a 100 sq m area on the first floor of Hall No 3 at the famous Pragati Maidan.
Besides Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC), individual entrepreneurs and enthusiastic youths are also participating in this year’s IITF.
The extravaganza will continue till 27 November and participants from areas such as Longleng, Meluri, Zunheboto and Tseminyu expressed confidence that they would record brisk business.
With nearly 2,500 exhibitors from India and abroad, IITF 2022 is being held in a total area of 73,000 sq m.
Maharashtra, Bihar and Jharkhand are Partner States for IITF 2022 while Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are the Focus States. Twenty-nine states and union territories are participating in the trade fair.
The Union Territory of Leh is participating in the prestigious show for the first time. The fair also will also see overseas participation from many countries.
This year, the fair assumes a special significance as it coincides with celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ – 75 years of India’s Independence.
Importantly, IITF offers an ideal platform to showcase indigenous and traditional products from far-flung regions and states under the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign. This is expected to infuse renewed confidence and vigour in the Indian and Naga economies.
